The Chicago Writers Association has selected M. L. Collins’ Out the Door! as the 2017 Book of the Year in Indie Fiction.
A satirical novel set in Door County, Out the Door! has been described as a story that’s a little about everything: geology, sex, politics, the environment, prairie voles, cheese curds, casinos, aphrodisiacs, sturgeon, trilobites, gulls, Hat Island — and much more!
Collins has spent lots of time in Door County, starting at her grandparents’ home in Juddville purchased in the 1930s. Her grandfather, pianist Edward J. Collins, is a well-known American composer who wrote many of his pieces in Door County.
Out the Door! is available on Amazon as an e-book, through Eckhartz Press (eckhartzpress.com/shop/out-the-door/) and locally at Main Street Market in Egg Harbor, the Fish Creek Bookshop, and at the Piggly Wiggly in Sister Bay.
