Doorfins Swimmers Excel at State

The Doorfins finished their season with 66 best times at the YMCA State Swimming Championships held at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer. These phenomenal times put them in 9th place overall as a team and ahead of 9 teams double or triple their size. The 13-14 year old girls placed 2nd as a team and 20 Doorfin team records were broke in this one meet. In addition, all the High School boys participating shattered best times from their High School season.

The following Doorfins placed in the top three at the State Meet: Maggie Hartman – 3rd place in 25 Back; Savanna Townsend – 1st place in 100 Fly (state record), 100 Breast & 50 Free (state record) and 2nd place in 100 Back; Sierra Townsend – 2nd place in 50 Free; Max McHugh – 1st place in 100 Individual Medley, 2nd place in 50 Breast, 100 Breast, and 50 Free; Conner McHugh – 2nd in 200 Breast, and 3rd in 100 Fly, 100 Breast, and 200 IM.

The following Doorfins have qualified for the national meet, which will be held in Fort Lauderdale in April or Maryland in July: Dylan Smith – 100 Back; Conner McHugh – 100 and 200 Breaststroke; Sierra Townsend – 100 Back, Breast, Fly, Free, and 50 Free, and Relays; Savanna Townsend – 100 Fly, Back, Breast, Free, 50 Free, 200 Back and Relays; Micheala Rabas – 200 Back, 50 Free, 100 Back, 100 Free and Relays; McKenzie Trelka – 50 Free, 100 Fly and Relays; Arica Smith – 50 Free.

The following relays will also be participating: 13-14 girls – 200 Free relay and 200 Medley relay; and 15-and-over girls – 200 Medley, 200 Free, 400 Medley and 400 Free.

It is uncertain at this time how many of the above qualifiers will participate in the National Meets.
