Dorothy Scott and Chris Kasper at Door County Outpost

Dorothy Scott

National touring artists Dorothy Scott and Chris Kasper will take the Door County Outpost stage on Thursday, July 30 at 7:30 pm.

Dorothy Scott’s diverse proto-folk might echo such artists as Kate Bush, Ani DiFranco, and Richard Thompson, but the New York/Wisconsin-based singer/songwriter wisely chooses to avoid living in those shadows. The emotional honesty of Dorothy’s music, the disciplined fury of her musicianship and the force of her vocal delivery connect her to an audience with confidence and grace. Her subsequent tours of the United States, Ireland, Sweden and Canada left a loyal and growing following in their wake. Along her travels, Dorothy has shared the stage with artists, Carole King, Jackson Browne, Jeff Buckley, Janis Ian, Joan Armatrading, Joan Osborne, the Siegel Schwall Band and the Frames. Dorothy’s record Restless Machinery was #1 in the local favorite’s “Chart Section” in Rolling Stone Magazine.

Chris Kasper

Sharing the evening with Dorothy Scott is Chris Kasper, an American original who has been quietly distinguishing himself from the crowd of musicians with acoustic guitars and original songs. Kasper is a gifted songwriter who follows neither genre nor format. His award-winning songwriting (for both himself and the Lowlands, a four-member traditional bluegrass act consistently receives high praise. His songs take you on a musical ride – ethereal, floating, delicate, and genuine – as he winds you up and calms you down.

Tickets are $10 at the door. For more information, please call 920.493.5979 or visit http://www.theartofmusiclive.com.
