The December meeting of the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society will meet Dec. 2 at 7 pm at Crossroads at Big Creek. The search for intelligent life is the topic, as Professor Ray Stonecipher presents the lecture “SETI.” He will describe the “search for extraterrestrial intelligence” by means of an exploratory science that seeks evidence of life in the universe by finding some signature of technology. Also, Coggin Heeringa will offer “This Month in Astronomy.” Refreshments will be served. Use the Utah Street entrance to reach the Astronomy Campus.
On Dec. 3 at 5:30 pm, the Friends of Crossroads will decorate the Collins Learning Center. Besides “decking the halls,” the Friends have a tradition of sharing holiday treats, warm cider and fellowship, and they invite non-members to join in the fun. A short meeting will follow the festivities.
The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan St., is open daily 2 – 4:30 pm, but will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week to celebrate Thanksgiving.
