Dream Come True

Cynthia L. Koshalek

For more than 20 years, Cynthia L. Koshalek has wanted to open her own storefront in Door County. She finally achieved that dream when she opened Artzy Studio in the Ephraim north shopping area at 10329 Hwy. 42. The grand opening for Artzy Studio is on June 27 and June 28 from noon to 4 pm. Koshalek will demonstrate her jewelry and ceramic techniques. There will be door prizes and gift certificates given away every hour from 1 – 4 pm. D.C. Specialty foods will provide free food for the event on both days.

Artzy Studio is the perfect home for Koshalek’s variety of art media; she has work in jewelry, paintings and ceramics. Each piece of jewelry is handmade using sterling silver or other precious metals and a hammering technique that she has perfected over the years. Koshalek taught ceramics for more than 38 years and she currently creates her handmade slab pieces and thrown wheel art in a ceramic studio lab near Madison.

Koshalek is also an award-winning painter. She was chosen to be one of 25 artists to exhibit in the very first art show held at the Wisconsin Governor’s residence. She has also won many awards for her Impressionist style pastels and acrylic paintings.

“Here, in Door County, I hope to achieve a balance between my old Impressionist style and something a little more adventurous. Artzy Studio has given me a place where I can do just that. For me, it’s a dream come true,” said Koshalek.
