Drive-thru Coffee Shop Approved

Sturgeon Bay – A bank-to-coffee-shop conversion received unanimous approval last week from the Sturgeon Bay Plan Commission.

Karla Thomas, a new tenant in the former Nicolet Bank building – now called the DC Epicenter by owners Chad and Jan Ladick – petitioned for a permit to use the existing drive-through facility in conjunction with her proposed coffee shop, Brewed Awakenings. The business use is permitted at the 217 N. 4th Ave. site; only the drive-through component required the conditional use permit.

“The drive-through has been there for a long time, so we have no issue with it,” said Marty Olejniczak, community development director. The coffee shop is currently under construction, with a Sept. 1 opening expected.

The drive-thru area of the former Nicolet Bank was approved to become a drive-thru coffee shop.
