Drug Take-Back Day Cancelled

Door County – The Door County Sheriff’s Office will collect unused prescription painkillers as part of Wisconsin’s Drug Take-Back Day on Oct. 23, 10 am – 2 pm. 

The goals are to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of medications and educate the public about the potential for abuse. Unused prescription painkillers in homes create a public-health and safety concern because they can be accidentally ingested, stolen, misused or abused. 

Unused or expired medicine should never be flushed down a toilet or poured down a drain because water-reclamation facilities are not designed to remove the pharmaceutical substances from the water supply, and trace amounts are showing up in rivers and lakes around the world.Find out more about Drug Take-Back Day at co.door.wi.gov/927/Drug-Take-Back-Day.
