DuCharme Signs Historical Fiction Books

If you enjoyed reading Anne of Green Gables or When We Were Yours, you’ll enjoy meeting and learning about similar stories by local author Judy DuCharme. She’ll be signing books at Novel Bay Booksellers, 44 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, on Aug. 19, 2:30-4:30 pm.

DuCharme wrote Lainey of the Door Islands and Addy of the Door Islands, both works of historical fiction that are popular with readers who are interested in Door County life during the 1800s.

Lainey lives with her fussy aunt and uncle, who operates the Pilot Island lighthouse, and longs for her parents and a life anywhere but in Door County. Addy is partially based on true tales from the era when orphaned children from the East Coast were transported to farms and families in the rural West – including Door County. After Addy and her sister step off a steamship in Ephraim as young orphans, they struggle and persevere as they long for a family to love them. The book also reconnects readers with characters introduced in Lainey.
