Eagle Bowlers Qualify for State

Southern Door’s high school bowling team, the winner of a fifth consecutive conference and sectional title, has qualified for the state bowling tournament March 3-4 in Wausau.

The Eagle bowlers, who went undefeated throughout the season, include freshman Cooper Arsenault, sophomores Bella Roen and Cayden Forsch, junior Landon Heldmann and senior Dylan Taylor.

Three of them – Taylor, Heldmann and Roen – also made it to state as individual qualifiers.

Taylor is an individual state qualifier for the fourth year in a row. He ranks fourth out of 34 boys in the conference and ended the season with a fill percentage of 75, having recorded 76 strikes and 59 spares out of 180 frames bowled, up 9% from last year.

Heldmann, the son of Eagles coach Matt Heldmann, advanced to state for the third straight year after finishing on top of the conference. The 2021 Door County Youth Bowler of the Year finished this season with a fill percentage of 85.5, tallying 93 strikes and 61 spares in 180 frames, up 4% from last year.

Roen is an individual state qualifier for the second year in a row and has been bowling for only two years. She ended conference play with a fill percentage of 60.5, having recorded 42 strikes and 67 spares in 180 frames, up 10% from last year.
