Eagles Edge Vikings in Boys Hoops

Southern Door’s boys basketball team trailed by two points at halftime Friday, but rallied in the second half to win its Packerland Conference home contest over Gibraltar, 55-47.

The Eagles were led by Drew Daoust, who scored 25 of his game-high 35 points in the second half, tallying 14 2-point field goals and shooting 7-7 from the free-throw line. Jared Hawkey added 11 points.

The Vikings also had two players score in double figures led by Braden Sitte with 15 points. Will Friedenfels tallied 11 points.

Southern Door, which improved to 5-1 in the Packerland and 8-3 overall, next plays Tuesday at Kewaunee, the only remaining undefeated team in conference play at 5-0.

Gibraltar (1-5, 2-9) next hosts a conference game Tuesday against Sturgeon Bay, prior to Friday’s league game at Algoma.

Pioneers Pounded by Storm

Sevastopol’s boys basketball team fell behind by 28 points at halftime Friday and ended up losing its Packerland Conference home game to Kewaunee, 80-40.

The Pioneers were led by Zaul Valdivia with 16 points. Nick Peterson added nine points.

The Storm had four players score in double figures led by Cal Ihlenfeldt with 16 points.

Up next for Sevastopol (0-6, 2-10) are conference games Tuesday at NEW Lutheran and at home Friday against Oconto.
