Eagles End Packerland Boys Hoops Slate at 15-1

Southern Door’s boys basketball team trailed by a point at halftime before closing out its regular-season schedule Saturday with a 76-66 Packerland Conference victory at NEW Lutheran.

Drew Daoust led the Eagles with a game-high 42 points, which included four 3-pointers. Jared Hawkey added 12 points.

The Blazers had three players score in double figures led by Tristian Lynch with 21 points. Griffin Steffel added 16 points, and Jack Henschel scored 14 more.

The Eagles won the league title at 15-1 and enter the WIAA tournament 21-3 overall. 

They received a No. 2 seed with an opening-round bye in Division 3 and will host a regional semifinal Friday against No. 10-seeded Two Rivers.

Storm Dumps on Clippers

Sturgeon Bay closed out the regular season Friday with an 84-45 loss at Kewaunee.

Isaak Aune and Calvin Richard led the Clippers with 11 points apiece.

Cal Ihlenfeldt led four Storm players in double figures with a game-high 24 points, followed by Thomas Stangel with 15 points, Payton Kohnle with 14 points and Christopher Cullen with 10 points.

Sturgeon Bay (4-12, 7-16) received a No. 11 seed in Division 3 and plays a regional quarterfinal game at No. 6-seeded Campbellsport. The winner advances to Friday’s semifinal at No. 3-seeded Oostburg.

Vikings Beat Wolves at Buzzer

Jake Schar made a layup as time ran out Friday to lift Gibraltar to a 42-40 home victory over Algoma.

The Vikings were led by Will Friedenfels with a game-high 16 points. Schar added 14 points.

Kaden Vardon led the Wolves with 12 points.

Gibraltar (6-10, 9-14) received a No. 8 seed in Division 5 and hosts a regional quarterfinal game Tuesday against No. 9-seeded Wausaukee. The winner advances to Friday’s semifinal at No. 1-seeded Florence.

Pioneers Fall to Blue Devils

Sevastopol closed out the regular season without a win in the Packerland Conference after losing Saturday at Oconto, 78-70.

The Pioneers were led by Lucas Delsart with 19 points, including six 3-pointers. Nick Peterson added 17 points, Zaul Valdivia tallied 11 points and Frankie de Young scored 10 more.

Sevastopol (0-16, 2-22) received a No. 13 seed in Division 5 and plays its regional quarterfinal Tuesday at No. 4-seeded Oneida Nation.
