Eagles Fend Off Wolves in Boys Hoops

Southern Door’s boys basketball team led by 19 points at halftime Tuesday and ended up winning its home Packerland Conference contest against Algoma, 66-51.

The short-handed Eagles, who were without starting forward Taylor Schaefer and reserve guard Tyler Neinas in the lineup, were led by Drew Daoust with a game-high 37 points, which included five 3-pointers. Jared Hawkey added 13 points with Matthew Malvitz scoring 10 more.

Parker Lischka led the Wolves with 17 points. Kadon Vardon added 12 points.

Southern Door, which won its 15th game in a row to improve to 12-1 in the conference and 18-3 overall, returns to action Friday with a league game at Gibraltar.

Vikings Pound Pioneers in Second Half

Gibraltar’s boys basketball team broke a 24-24 tie at halftime Tuesday and won its Packerland Conference game at Sevastopol, 64-35.

The Vikings, who had 11 players score, were led by Will Friedenfels with a game-high 18 points. Braden Sitte also scored in double figures with 11 points.

The Pioneers were led by Nick Peterson with 12 points.

Gibraltar (4-9, 7-13) next hosts Southern Door on Friday.

Sevastopol (0-13, 2-19) plays a league game Friday at Kewaunee.

Clippers Top Two Rivers

Sturgeon Bay’s boys basketball team won a non-conference game Monday at Two Rivers, 69-53.

The Clippers were led by Isaak Aune with a game-high 26 points, followed by Calvin Richard with 20 points and Garrett Ulberg scoring 16 more.

Orian Gauger led the Raiders with 21 points. Carson Kadow added 10 points. 

Sturgeon Bay (4-10, 7-14) returns to action Feb. 20 in a home league game against Gibraltar.
