Eagles Fly Past Pioneers in Boys Hoops

Southern Door’s boys basketball team jumped out to a 30-point halftime lead Friday en route to a 94-40 Packerland Conference victory at Sevastopol.

The Eagles, who capitalized on the Pioneers’ turnovers and made multiple inside shots with only one basket behind the arc, had three players score in double figures. Jared Hawkey tallied a game-high 31 points, Drew Daoust added 24 points and Taylor Schaefer scored 14 more.

Lucas Delsart led Sevastopol with 13 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers, while Frankie de Young added 10 points.

Southern Door, which improved its season record to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in league play, returns to action Tuesday with a non-conference game at Brillion.

Sevastopol (1-4, 0-2) hosts a non-conference game Monday against the Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschool Athletic Association before the next conference game Thursday at Sturgeon Bay.

Clippers Downed at Peshtigo

Sturgeon Bay’s boys basketball team lost its conference game Friday at Peshtigo, 55-41.

The Clippers, who trailed by seven points at halftime, had two players end up scoring in double figures. Calvin Richard had 13 points, with Isaak Aune adding 10 points.

The Bulldogs had three players score in double figures led by Kavin Kleikamp with a game-high 14 points.

Up next for Sturgeon Bay (2-4, 1-2) is Thursday’s home game against Sevastopol.

Blazers Beat Vikings

Gibraltar’s boys basketball team trailed by 24 points at halftime before losing Friday at NEW Lutheran, 79-41.

Carl Burgess led the Vikings with 10 points, while Jake Schar added eight points.

The Blazers had two players score in double figures. Tristan Lynch tallied a game-high 25 points, followed by Elijah Meerstein with 23 points.

Gibraltar (1-4, 0-2) next hosts a conference game Thursday against Oconto.
