Eagles Host Track-and-Field Quadrangular

Warm spring weather greeted track-and-field competitors Tuesday when Southern Door hosted a quadrangular meet with Sturgeon Bay, Algoma and Kewaunee.

In the girls competition, the Clippers topped the team standings with 95 points, followed by the Eagles (75), Storm (72) and Wolves (18).

First-place individual finishes by Sturgeon Bay’s girls team included: sophomore Ella Tarkowski, 100-meter dash (13.52 seconds) and 400 dash (1:06.23); junior Nida Zukauskaite, high jump (4 feet, 10 inches) and 300 hurdles (53.83); junior Julia Kurek, 800 run (2:41.67); senior Cate Anderson, 100 hurdles (17.07); senior Andrea Wilke, pole vault (8-0) and freshman Claire Quaderer, 3200 run (17:29.01).

The Clipper girls also won the 4×100 relay (54.52) and the 4×400 relay (4:38.14).

The Eagle girls won two individual events with senior Allianna Dufek in the discus (91-7) and freshman Frankie Nellis in the long jump (14-11).

In the boys competition, Kewaunee topped the team standings at 116 points, followed by Southern Door (91), Sturgeon Bay (43) and Algoma (19).

First-place individual finishes by the Eagle boys included: junior Zack Lynch, 100 dash (11.83) and 200 dash (23.86); sophomore Ben Grota, 1600 run (4:57.99) and 3200 run (11:23.6); and senior Kaden Borkovetz, 110 hurdles (17.64) and long jump (18-0).

Southern Door’s boys also won the 4×100 relay (46.34).

The Clipper boys recorded their only first-place finish from sophomore Braden Evers in the shot put (43-5).
