Eagles Rally to Down Blue Devils in Boys Hoops

After trailing by nine points at halftime Tuesday, Southern Door’s boys basketball team rallied in the second half to win its home Packerland Conference contest over Oconto, 86-73.

Sophomore point guard Drew Daoust tallied 26 of his game-high 37 points in the second half to lead the Eagles, with three of his 17 field goals from behind the 3-point arc. Jared Hawkey added 22 points, which also included three 3-pointers, and Taylor Schaefer scored 18 more.

The Blue Devils also had three players score in double figures led by Kadin Baxter with 21 points, followed by Trenton Hartman with 19 points and Dominik Baxter with 15 points.

Southern Door, which improved to 8-1 in the Packerland Conference – a half of a game in first place, ahead of Kewaunee and Peshtigo at 7-1 – and 11-3 overall, returns to action Saturday at Peshtigo.

Pioneers Pounded by Peshtigo

Sevastopol’s boys basketball team fell behind by 37 points at halftime Tuesday and ended up losing at home in Packerland Conference action to Peshtigo, 85-46.

Lucas Delsart led three Pioneer players in double figures with 13 points. Nick Peterson added 11 points with Chase Haberli scoring 10 more.

Ther Bulldogs, who had 11 players score points and six of them in double figures, were led by Will McMahon, Kaine Fort and Grant Bauman with 13 points apiece.

Sevastopol (0-9, 2-13) next hosts a non-conference game Saturday against Florence.

Clippers Beaten by Blazers

Sturgeon Bay’s boys basketball team led by eight points at halftime Tuesday, but ended up losing its home Packerland Conference game to NEW Lutheran, 84-72.

The Clippers (3-6, 5-10) next play a league game Thursday at Algoma.
