Eagles Rout Reedsville in Non-League Baseball

In a non-conference high school varsity baseball game Thursday at Reedsville, Southern Door scored 11 runs in the fifth inning to end the contest via the 10-run rule, with the Eagles winning, 21-7.

Southern Door scored twice in the opening frame, which included a leadoff home run from Jack Peterson.

The Eagles added six runs in the second inning.

Reedsville, which scored a first-inning run without tallying a hit, cut its deficit to 8-5 with four runs in the bottom of the third.

Southern Door extended its advantage to 10-5 in the top of the fourth with a two-run homer by Christian Counard.

The Eagles then flew away from the Panthers with 11 runs in the top of the fifth, which featured home runs from Derek Schinktgen and Tyler Neinas, and a bases-clearing double by Alec Guilette.

The round-tripper for Neinas, who ended up batting 4-5, was a three-run blast. Schinktgen, who went 3-4 at the plate, hit a two-run homer. Southern Door players who tallied two hits each included Counard, Jaden Diller, Jared Hawkey and Taylor Schaefer.

Reedsville could only muster two runs in the bottom of the fifth and, unable to cut the deficit below 10 runs to continue the contest into the sixth sixth, made the final baseball score total up like a football game at 21-7.

On the mound for Southern Door, Drew Daoust pitched three innings and recorded the win.

The Eagles, who improved to 3-0 overall for the season, resume Packerland Conference play Saturday with a doubleheader at Algoma, where the first game is moved up to a 10 am scheduled start.

Pioneers Fall to Patriots

The team Southern Door defeated Tuesday in a home conference doubleheader, Sevastopol, lost a non-conference game it hosted Thursday against Goodman-Pembine, 4-2.

The Pioneers, who dropped to 0-3 overall, host a conference doubleheader Saturday against Gibraltar, with the first game set to start at 11 am.
