Eagles Soar Past Clippers, Remain Undefeated

Southern Door enters the WIAA playoffs as a No. 1 seed in Division 5 and the undefeated Packerland Conference champions.

The Eagles closed out the regular season Friday night with a 41-0 victory over Sturgeon Bay in its Homecoming game at Memorial Field.

Southern Door led 35-0 at halftime after scoring five rushing touchdowns, four by Zack Lynch and the other coming from quarterback Drew Daoust.

Lynch accounted for 98 of the team’s 257 rushing yards. Daoust completed 5 of 10 passes for 94 yards.

With the second half on running time, the Eagles’ reserves saw plenty of playing time. Their final touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a 9-yard pass from Lauden Berg to James Fish III.

Southern Door, which wrapped up the regular season 9-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play, opens the playoffs at home Oct. 21 against No. 8-seeded Brillion, which enters postseason play 3-6 overall.

Sturgeon Bay (5-4, 4-3) also qualified for the postseason and is in the same Division 5 playoff bracket as the Eagles. The No. 7-seeded Clippers play Oct. 21 at No. 2-seeded Kewaunee (8-1, 6-1).
