Eagles Still Storm in Boys Hoops

Southern Door’s boys basketball team knocked Kewaunee out of the Packerland Conference’s unbeaten ranks Tuesday when the Eagles recorded a 63-59 victory on the Storm’s home court.

Drew Daoust led three Southern Door players in double figures with 29 points. Jared Hawkey added 17 points with Taylor Schaefer scoring 12 more.

Thomas Stangel accounted for more than half of Kewaunee’s scoring with a game-high 30 points.

The Eagles, who improved to 6-1 in the Packerland and 9-3 overall, return to action Friday when they host a league game against NEW Lutheran.

The Storm (5-1, 8-4) plays Friday at Sturgeon Bay.

Vikings Down Clippers

Gibraltar’s boys basketball team led by two points at halftime Tuesday and ended up winning its Packerland Conference home game against Sturgeon Bay, 67-58.

Jake Schar led the Vikings with a game-high 23 points, followed by Carl Burgess with 20 points and Will Friedenfels scoring 12 more.

Isaak Aune tallied 22 points to lead the Clippers. Calvin Richard also scored in double figures with 13 points.

Gibraltar (2-5, 3-9) returns to action Friday with a league game at Algoma.

Sturgeon Bay (3-4, 5-8) will seek to get back on the winning track and give Kewaunee its second league loss of the season on Friday.
