Eagles Sweep Clippers in Softball Twin Bill

Southern Door’s softball team swept both games of the Packerland Conference doubleheader it hosted Tuesday against Sturgeon Bay.

The Eagles won the first game in five innings 11-0.

Southern Door’s leading hitters included Greta Gutschow with two hits, including a three-run homer that ended the game in the bottom of the fifth, and 4 RBI. Chloe Lustila added two hits with a double and 3 RBI. Ashlyn Delfosse, Callie Miller and Payton Gilbertson also had two hits each.

Caprice Carbajel led the Clippers at the plate with two doubles.

Delfosse recorded the complete-game pitching victory for Southern Door, tossing all five innings while giving up two hits and striking out four. Annika Schoeneman took the loss for Sturgeon Bay.

The Eagles won the second game in four innings, 17-2.

Delfosse led Southern Door at the plate with four hits, including two doubles with 3 RBI. Tori Marchant added three hits with 3 RBI. Bella Price also had three hits. Gutschow and Colbi Jacquet both had two hits with a double. Lustila tallied two singles.

Mackenzie Burlo recorded two hits with a triple for Sturgeon Bay. Lilly Cihlar added two singles.

Lustila pitched a four-inning complete game for the win. Schoeneman took the loss for the Clippers.

Southern Door, which improved its conference record to 6-4, next plays a league doubleheader Friday at Kewaunee.

Sturgeon Bay (0-8) hosts a league twin bill Friday against Gibraltar/Washington Island.
