Earth Day Festival April 21-24

This year’s Every Day Is Earth Day Festival will be held April 21-24 at three locations.

Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, will screen the film Kiss the Ground, a hopeful documentary about restoring the soil beneath our feet, on April 21, 6 pm.

Northern Sky Theater will host an Earth Day show April 22, 7-9 pm, at its Gould Theater in Fish Creek. Doc Heide will be the host, with music provided by Jeanne Kuhns, Terry Murphy and Paul Taylor. Write On, Door County will offer spoken-word performances, and there will be a sing-along at the end.

On April 23, 10 am – 4 pm, the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor will be the center of activity. A Marketplace of Ideas will host tables from 16 area organizations that care about our earth; eight presentations are planned on topics including water, trees, energy-saving home retrofits, green shopping and composting; an Open Door Bird Sanctuary program will be a highlight for all bird lovers; and food and activities for kids will be available.

Crossroads will also host wetland-restoration tours April 24, 2-4 pm, when visitors can explore Crossroads’ new bridges; watch tree-planting demonstrations; get jumping worm information; participate in seed, plant and tree give-aways; and more.
