Ed Garvey To Headline 41st Summer Program

The Door County Environmental Council annual free summer program will feature prominent Madison attorney, Ed Garvey, who will focus on Wisconsin and national issues from an environmental perspective. The program will take place at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall on August 17 at 7 pm.

Garvey will draw on his experiences throughout Wisconsin history and as editor and publisher of the Fighting Bob Lafollette publication and website.

Garvey organized the Fighting Bob Fest 10 years ago to revitalize the Robert Lafollette progressive ideals of the 1920s and brings outstanding national speakers to the annual gathering in Wisconsin. He is a partner in the law firm of Garvey-McNeal and Associates of Madison and had served as Deputy Attorney General under Bronson LaFollette specializing in environmental issues, spearheading the creation of the Public Intervener’s Office as an “environmental watchdog.”

Garvey currently writes a column for the Madison Capital Times newspaper and is the author of a book Bidding For Power. Garvey was nominated for U.S. Senator in 1986 and also for governor in 1998 and his firm has represented several communities that have taken on fights to stop factory farms, Wal-Mart stores, and coal burning utilities, all the while actively promoting social and economic justice.
