Edgewood Holds Memorial Day Weekend Reception and Demo

Edgewood Orchard Galleries hosts a Memorial Day reception for Exhibit I featured artists, which include furniture maker and sculptor Nathan Hatch, oil pastel painter George Shipperley and jeweler Michelle Zjala Winter.

Shipperley’s paintings are mostly inspired by nature, though most of his work is imaginary. Local furniture maker and sculptor Hatch uses the implication of functionality in order to prompt speculation on the part of the viewer, encouraging a new perspective. Winter’s jewelry creations are fabricated using traditional techniques and flat raw materials, such as sheet and wire, in sterling silver, gold and copper.

In addition to the featured artists, Exhibit I celebrates Edgewood Orchard’s 50th season with a Celebrate Water Benefit Show. This group show raises awareness and funds for a new initiative called Celebrate Water Door County. For more information visit CelebrateWaterDoorCounty.org.

The Exhibit I reception is May 26, 4-7pm. The featured artists will briefly speak about their work at 5 pm, and wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. On May 27, 1-3 pm, Shipperley will give an oil pastel painting demonstration in the courtyard.

Exhibit I is on display through June 12. Edgewood Orchard Galleries, open daily 10 am to 5 pm, is located at 4140 Peninsula Players Road, midway between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek. For more information visit edgewoodorchard.com.
