Edgewood Orchards Opening Reception Features Book Signing and Demonstrations

“Blue River Farm,” oil painting, by Susan Hale

Edgewood Orchard Galleries will host a reception for the opening of its fourth exhibit of the season on September 3 from 4 – 7 pm. The featured artists will talk about their artwork at 5 pm. Wine and hors d’ouevres will be served.

Exhibit IV will feature the artwork painters Susan Hale, Mai Wyn Schantz and Leslie Wu, glass artist David Lindsay and jeweler Olga Ganoudis. September 4, Hale will demonstrate painting from 1 – 3 pm. Both the reception and demonstration are free and open to the public.

Hale of Cedarburg, WI, has created a colorful and energetic collection of paintings for this exhibit that reflect her love of color and pattern. “I want to impart to the viewer the beauty and energy I feel and see as I witness nature and the landscape,” she said.

Painter Wyn Schantz is known for her the unconventional materials she paints on – aluminum and stainless steel. “I seek to capture nature through a twenty-first century lens, to find beauty in the balance of two seeming opposites,” she said.

“Victoria Vase” by David Lindsay

Accomplished painter and book illustrator Wu of Washington state will be in the gallery courtyard at 6 pm to sign copies of her current book Butterfly Tree. The original pastel paintings from this book will be featured in the gallery.

The artwork of self-taught glass artist Lindsay will be featured at Edgewood Orchard Galleries for the first time during Exhibit IV. Born and raised in Vallejo, California, Lindsay employs the technique of compound layering, often incorporating gold or silver into his multi-faceted paperweights, vases and sculptures.

Featured jeweler Ganoudis will have a large collection of her distinctive jewelry designs at the gallery. Ganoudis is known for the juxtaposition of a hard grainy texture next to the smooth surface of a pearl. Her wide traveling experience and her Greek heritage, influence her esthetic expression.

Edgewood Orchard Galleries is located at 4140 Peninsula Players Road, one block east of Highway 42 between Juddville and Fish Creek. For more information, call 920.868.3579 or visit http://www.edgewoodorchard.com.
