Egg Harbor celebrates 150th Saturday

• The Egg Harbor Historical Society is offering a rare opportunity to tour the historic 19th century Horseshoe Bay Farms complex Aug. 27 as part of Egg Harbor’s 150th anniversary celebration.

The event runs from 10 am – 5 pm and includes tours of the property, food, music, a Native American dance demonstration, and an appearance by Miss Wisconsin 2010 Kimberly Sawyer, an Egg Harbor native. Historic photos will be on display.

For more information or to register for the picnic visit eggharborwi.com or send an email to [email protected]. Registration is not required but advance registrants will be entered into a drawing for a two-volume set of Egg Harbor family histories, the first publication of the Egg Harbor Historical Society, as well as a dinner for two at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club.

• The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin will challenge Wisconsin’s Voter ID law on the grounds that the state constitution specifically limits the classes of citizens who may be excluded from voting to two named classes – felons and people ruled incompetent. The lawsuit will challenge the Wisconsin Legislature’s authority to enact this law, which creates a third class of citizens who may not vote – those who do not have ID.

The League is working with attorney Lester Pines of Cullen Weston, Pines & Bach.
