Egg Harbor Introduces Frosty Fest

Entering its 33rd year, the Egg Harbor New Year’s Day Parade gets kicked up a notch into a new festival in 2011 – Frosty Fest.

A lot of laughter and a little zany fun, saying goodbye to the past and welcoming in the New Year, the parade starts at 1 pm regardless of the weather. To participate in the parade, line up at Stella Maris Parish, 7710 State Hwy. 42. The parade runs north through the Village of Egg Harbor from Harbor School Road to County Highway E.

Immediately following the parade along the parade route will be a one-mile Icy Fun Run to benefit the Door County YMCA. An entry fee of $15 includes a pair of Frosty Fest logo gloves and hot chocolate at the finish line. To register for this family friendly run, sign-up at the Y in Sturgeon Bay or Fish Creek.

Snow and ice sculptures will line the sidewalks and a carving demonstration will take place in Harbor View Park. Food and beverages will be available for purchase before, during and after the parade.

A brand new winter event, Winter Harbor Madness, will include an ice fishing tournament, snowmobile poker run and dance on Saturday, Jan. 15. The poker run, organized by the Door Central Sno-goers, will start at Casey’s BBQ & Smokehouse in downtown Egg Harbor; registration begins at 10 am. Hands will be drawn at John Henry’s in Egg Harbor at 3:30 pm. Entry fee is $7, with $225 of prize money available. The snowmobile dance will be held at the Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor, with live music by the Modern Day Drifters at 8pm.
