Egg Harbor Votes to Tear Down Old Lena’s Building

The Village of Egg Harbor Board of Trustees voted 4 – 1 to tear down the former Lena’s Sip & Chat building at a meeting April 9. When the board announced that it had purchased the building March 12 they said they would demolish it, but many residents urged them to reconsider.

The building was built by Tom Carmody in 1935 and served as a village watering hole for nearly 80 years. The village plans to build a new structure housing the library, public restrooms, a visitor center, and a Niagara Escarpment interpretive center.
