Egg Harbor Welcomes New and Expanding Businesses

With an additional 1,000 square feet at Patricia Shoppe, owner Erin Bosman can have her bathroom back.

Patricia Shoppe’s two dressing rooms have been getting busier and busier since it opened in 2001 – causing Bosman to convert the front of her bathroom into a space for ladies to try on dresses and tops. But when her store re-opens in the spring with five dressing rooms and double the retail space, Bosman’s bathroom can be just that – a bathroom.

“To be able to have twice as much retail space will be really nice,” Bosman said.

The Patricia Shoppe’s décor, with wooden floors and rustic paned windows, will stay, but Bosman plans to update the shop’s heating system and install energy-efficient windows. The renovations should make for more comfortable winter shopping and, hopefully, a year-round business.

“It’s tough being open this time of year with my heat situation,” Bosman said.

Patricia Shoppe is just one of a number of new or expanding Egg Harbor businesses. Harbor Hardware is adding 5,400 square feet; a new restaurant, Harbor View Bar and Grill, will open near Harbor View Park, and the Chocolate Chicken has a new owner.

Harbor Hardware is bringing more building supplies to its shelves, which owner Steve Hamming said will keep people off the road running from store to store.

“Now they don’t have to drive everywhere to get everything – I’ve got it,” Hamming said.

Hamming also plans to add more services, like pipe cutting, and add space to the sales floor.

As Egg Harbor’s retail options expand for next summer, so will the dining.

Christina and Patrick Robers will open The Harbor View Grill next to Harbor View Park and plan to offer fresh, local food. Their goal is to get meat from local butchers and produce from local farms, and avoid frozen products.

“Ultimately we will only have a freezer for ice cream,” Patrick said.
