Elephant Revival Brings Transcendental Folk to Door County

After first appearing on the Door Community Auditorium (DCA) stage last year as the opening act for Mason Jennings, Elephant Revival is back by popular demand.

“We are so glad they’re having us back,” says Bridget Law of Elephant Rival. “We loved the reception, the people. We are so stoked!”

On July 3 at 7 pm, they will bring back innovative, energetic roots music, blending fiddle tunes, traditional ballads, psychedelic country, indie rock, and jazz standards with reggae grooves and even the occasional hip-hop beat.

“If I had to pick one theme for our music, it would be peace – inner peace, peace with others, peace with nature,” explains Law, who says the band met at different music venues. “We all introduced each other to each other and the chemistry was there.”

Colorado-based Elephant Revival is young in both age and conception. They find themselves on the cutting edge of an emerging new genre known as “transcendental folk,” which incorporates a wide variety of roots styles into traditional and original songs.

“We love what we’re doing. We are touring so much,” says Law. “This is an exciting time for us – a lot of demand for our music. We got these amazing opportunities, and we’re going for it!”

The band’s prodigious instrumental skill and genre-bending originality result in live performances humming with all the electricity of an old-fashioned tent revival.

Elephant Revival consists of Bonnie Paine (washboard, djembe, musical saw), Sage Cook (banjo, guitar, mandolin, viola), Dango Rose (bass, mandolin, banjo), Daniel Rodriguez (banjo, guitar, vocals) and Law (fiddle). Individually, the band’s members have performed with such musical greats as Bela Fleck, John Paul Jones, and George Clinton.
