Ellison Bay Artist Exhibits Icons in Iowa

Ellison Bay iconographer Robert Appel exhibited 37 of his icons this spring at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He’s been painting icons in the Greek style for 25 years, and some of them hang in the Church of the Nativity in Jacksonport and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sister Bay, as well as in a convent in Indiana, in its motherhouse in Germany, in Mexico and in private collections. Appel will hold an exhibit and sale of his work Sept. 1-3 at Coventry Care in Sister Bay.
