Ellison Bay Parents Attend Son’s Command Change

U.S. Navy Commander John LeVoy relieved Commander Benjamin Stinespring, U.S. Navy, as the 2nd commanding officer of Unmanned Patrol Squadron (VUP) 19 during a change of command ceremony aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida on June 5. VUP-19 is composed of nearly 300 Sailors and 200 civilian contractors and has a mission to fly two types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs): the MQ-4C Triton and RQ-4A Broad Area Maritime Surveillance-Demonstrator.

A native of Chicago, Commander LeVoy became the executive officer of VUP-19 in 2016 after serving as the readiness branch chief in the training and exercises directorate of U.S. Central Command. He will lead VUP-19 through its historic, first-ever flight of the MQ-4C Triton UAV and subsequent deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.

Commander LeVoy’s parents, Hugh and Lee LeVoy, traveled from their home in Ellison Bay to attend the ceremony.
