Among the missions of Ellison Bay Pottery are to introduce visitors to the creative process and to educate them about the value of handmade items. To that end, John Dietrich and Diane McNeil will answer questions and share their creative processes during their 47th-anniversary-celebration demonstrations on Wednesdays and Saturdays through Aug. 25, held at various times.
During the raku demonstration, for example, visitors can participate in part of the firing process. The “try-it” demonstration is a mix of Dietrich’s coaching and participants trying to throw a pottery bowl. These events will be held outside, weather permitting, and masks are encouraged.
