#ENOUGH: Plays to End Gun Violence

With the number of mass shootings in the United States on track to exceed 400 by the end of the year, Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay is proud to partner with a new campaign of theater activism called #ENOUGH: Plays to End Gun Violence

Its mission is to spark crucial conversations about gun violence by providing middle school and high school students with a platform to express themselves through storytelling, foster open dialogue in their communities, and inspire creative action. Beginning in 2020 as a nationwide call for submissions of short plays written by students about gun violence, #ENOUGH will culminate in an evening of simultaneous staged readings across the nation of the most impactful plays on Dec. 14, 2020 – the eighth anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings.

A panel of award-winning, nationally recognized playwrights will choose the finalist plays, whose student authors will workshop their works at the Utah Shakespeare Festival in August before the plays are made available to communities taking part in the #ENOUGH Nationwide Reading.

Submissions of 10-minute plays from students in grades six through 12 will be accepted through April 20 – the 21st anniversary of the Columbine shootings.
