  • Local Movie Needs Local Help

    Rebecca Livengood and Chris Irwin will begin shooting a feature film in Door County the weekend of May 16th and will continue filming sporadically throughout the summer.

  • “Gasland Part II” Screened at UU Fellowship

    Gasland Part II will be shown at the UU Fellowship on May 20 at 4:30 pm. In this follow-up to his Oscar®-nominated film Gasland, filmmaker Josh Fox uses his trademark dark humor to take a deeper, broader look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil, now occurring on a global level in 32 countries worldwide.

    The Door County Short Film Festival (DCSFF) held its 5th annual festival this February. Prior to last year, all of the entries have been from Wisconsin.

  • Genealogical Findings

    Jennifer Levendusky, member of the Peninsula Genealogical Society, presented a well-received talk about her ancestors at a recent meeting. Levendusky’s ancestors, Hanson and Scove, founded shipyards that built schooners in Manitowoc and Two Rivers beginning in the 1870s.

  • DCA Screens Chris Mydra’s First Full-length Film

    As strange as it seems, Jeff is Dead, and that’s a really good thing. At least it is if you are Chris Mydra, junior at Gibraltar High School. It is the title of his first full-length film, which he both wrote and directed.

    The Clearing Folk School introduces this year’s schedule of one and two-day summer and fall Workshop Program classes. Classes begin June 17 and run through November 8.

    The Door County Wine Trail will host its annual Wine Trail Weekend May 16 through May 18. During the weekend each participating Door County winery will host special events celebrating the arrival of wine season in Door County.
