Homebrewers Wanted for Door County Beer Festival
The Door County Beer Festival is seeking contestants for the first Door County Homebrewing Championships on June 16 at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. The championships will be judged according to Beer Judge Certification Program style guidelines in 11 categories and will be sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association.

“Pirates – Ship to Shore” opened to the public at the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay on May 19. Visitors will be treated to an eye-popping backdrop that will take them back some 300 years to a seafront port in the Caribbean.

Movies That Matter Series Presents “The Listening Project” at UUF
A free screening of The Listening Project will play at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (UUF) in Ephraim on May 15 at 4:30 pm. The film was named Best Documentary at the Santa Cruz Film Festival in 2008, and attempts to uncover answers to the question, “What does the world think of the United States of America?” Filmmakers Dominic Howes and Joel Weber traveled to 14 countries around the globe, listening to people.

The Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present a free screening of the award-winning film Hugo on April 27 at 7 pm. Hugo traces the story of an orphaned boy who lives secretly in the walls of a busy Paris train station and looks after the station’s clocks.

The Institute Saloon in Institute will host a barn dance on April 28 from 7 – 9:30 pm. The Sugar on the Floor Barn Dance Orchestra will provide the live music and the dances will be taught by the caller Tim Jenkins.
