  • Door County Historical Museum: A Museum 75 Years in the Making

    A complete collection of Door County Fair buttons, three restored fire trucks, Native American arrowheads, old-fashioned farm equipment, a spectacular wildlife diorama – and I’m barely skimming the surface of what’s inside the Door County Historical Museum, which turns 75 years old this year.

  • Ice Cream and the Packers

    The Ephraim Moravian Church is holding an old-fashioned ice cream social and silent auction on July 5, 1 – 4 pm. Wilson’s Ice Cream Parlor in Ephraim has donated all the ice cream; toppings will include caramel, fudge, strawberries, sprinkles and whipped cream.

  • A Tale, A Craft, and a Healthy Snack

    Child’s Play, sponsored by the Ephraim Historical Foundation and Door County Library (Ephraim Branch), will be held every Thursday in the month of July.

  • New Tour Program Launches

    The Wisconsin History Tour, a new outreach program from the Wisconsin Historical Society, launches in Door County at the Ephraim Historical Foundation Barn on July 2.

  • Finding Inner Balance with The Spa at Scared Grounds

    The Spa at Sacred Grounds will host a Chakra Balancing Workshop on June 28, 10 am – 12:30 pm. This workshop is designed to introduce students to the chakra system, the seven major energy centers in the body that influence overall emotional, physical and spiritual health.

  • Kids Hone Their Culinary Skills

    Door County kids can hone their culinary skills at the Top Chef Tech Camp June 23-24 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Sturgeon Bay. The hands-on summer camp runs daily from 9 am – 3 pm and is open to students entering grades 5-8.

  • Award Winning Taxidermist Expands His Exhibit

    Master taxidermist, Mike Orthober of Egg Harbor, will be at the Door County Historical museum on June 21, for most of the day, mounting a specimen for the museum’s “Seasons of Life” display.

  • Bjorklunden Offers Three New Seminars

    From July 13 until July 18, Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden is offering these seminars: “The Kennedys: An American Experience” with Tim Crain, “The Tragic Comedy of Nikolai Gogol: Prose, Plays, Opera and Film” with Peter Thomas and “Midwest Medieval: Understanding the Boynton Chapel” with Ben Tilghman.

  • Expert Appraises Antiques

    The Heritage Village at Big Creek will host “What’s It Worth?” on June 26, 4 – 7 pm. Special guest author and antiques expert Mark Moran will appraise objects in the categories of fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, advertising, folk art, toys, metal-ware, clocks, and costume jewelry.

  • Fish Creek History Told in Style

    Come and find out what was it like 100 years ago at the Style Show Delight and Dessert, “A Glimpse of Old Fish Creek.” What did people do? How did townspeople make a living? What were the fashions of the day? Join the Gibraltar Historical Association at 2:30 pm on June 28, in the Old Town Hall in Fish Creek at the corner of Spruce and Maple Street.

    Discover Wisconsin is shining the spotlight on the state’s ever-evolving culinary scene in an upcoming episode. Premiering June 21-22 across the Midwest, “Local Foods and Finds: Wisconsin Culinary Tour” is guest hosted by Stephanie Klett, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.

    The Heritage Village at Big Creek opens for the season on June 15. The public is invited to experience early life in Door County with blacksmithing demonstrations, music, ice cream social, and guest presenters sharing education in the rural schools, fashions of the 19th century, early funeral practices and cultural heritage programs.

    The Gibraltar Historical Association (GHA) of Fish Creek is hosting another Historic Style Show at the Fish Creek Old Town Hall. This style show is connected to GHA’s current exhibit, “A Glimpse of Old Fish Creek.

  • Diverse Seminars at Bjِrklunden

    From July 6 until July 11, Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden is offering these seminars: “Collision: The Conquest and Colonization of Latin America” with Jake Frederick and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game: The Mythology, Allure and Evolution of the Game We Love” with Steve Landfried.

  • Notable Guest Chefs at Savory Spoon

    On June 14, Savory Spoon welcomes Sara Hill from the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board for a very special “Wisconsin’s Best of the Best.” The menu will be paired with a variety of beer and Island Orchard Cider.

  • Birch Cottage Opens at Corner of the Past

    On June 21, The Corner of the Past in Sister Bay will open Birch Cottage for the public to tour. This little cottage was donated by Liberty Park Lodge and has been refitted with appropriate furnishings to take visitors back to a time when conversation, games and easy living were hallmarks of good living in Door County.
