Dear Mary Pat, I feel guilty. There has recently been an influx of lilacs throughout the Door Peninsula. I love the scent, the color, and wanted to fill a few vases with the beautiful spring blossoms.

Door County Historical Museum Searches for Depression-era Items
The Door County Historical Museum is looking for artifacts from the Great Depression during their Add to the Archives event on June 15. Are there recipes that were made when some ingredients were scarce? What types of entertainment were there? What were the clothes like? Did anybody find jobs with the WPA (Works Progress Administration) or CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) working on local buildings or highways? The museum is looking for all types of information – memories included (as long as they’re written down).

Lake Lessons Begin for the Summer
Lake Lessons, The Ridges popular summer speaker series, returns with “Wisconsin and Door County Lighthouses.” Authors and historians Ken and Barb Wardius will present the program at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall on June 20 at 7 pm.
