  • Registration Open for Running Green

    Now is the time to register for the 3rd annual Running Green for Crossroads, 2k, 5k, and 10k trail run or walk event on June 23. The run takes place on a 115-acre preserve at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

  • Runners Set to Go Hog Wild in Sturgeon Bay

    The second annual Hog Wild 5k will feature a new scenic backdrop as it moves to Downtown Sturgeon Bay’s Martin Park with the Side Pork Festival. The race, featuring a 5k, 15k, a 15k relay and a kids run, will be staged on Memorial Drive along the shores of the Sturgeon Bay shipping canal.

  • Brother and Sister Combo Pitch the Vikings Into Spring Season

    Gibraltar’s spring sports season got off to a great start thanks to the brother and sister combination of Matt and Helen Hecht. Matt, a junior, pitched the baseball team to a 4 – 0 victory over Green Bay N.

  • Door County Half Marathon Seeks Volunteers

    Do you want to join the team working on one of Door County’s fastest-growing community events? The Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet Bay 5k is looking for volunteers to help prepare for the 5th annual race May 5, 2012.

  • Free Throw Prodigies

    Lauren Kita and Anthony Laughlin, both eighth graders at Gibraltar Middle School, competed at the state level of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship in Wisconsin Rapids on March 17.

  • Sprint Triathlon Nearly Sold Out

    The Door County Triathlon is nearly full: the Half Iron sold out in early February to its 1,000 participant capacity while the Sprint event has just a few spots left.

  • Nicolet Bay 5k Fills

    Registration for the Nicolet Bay 5k, part of the Door County Half Marathon event, is now closed. The race set a record with 550 runners signing up for the May 5 event in Peninsula State Park.

  • TAP’s Spring Theatre Class Offerings

    Third Avenue Playhouse’s (TAP) spring theatre classes will begin April 12 and April 14. Instructors Amy Ensign and Ross Dippel are offering four theatre classes for children in second through 12th grade.

  • Midsummer’s Music Announces Start of Season

    Midsummer’s Music season begins June 8 with “Fantasy and Magic,” and its “red carpet” premiere at Birch Creek Performance Center near Egg Harbor. The premiere promises to deliver a delightfully balanced evening of champagne, chocolate, and the music of Schumann, Kreutzer and Raff.

  • “Anything Goes” at Gibraltar High School

    The award winning theatre students of Gibraltar High School are set to sing and dance in their performance of Anything Goes on April 13 – 15 at the Door Community Auditorium (DCA).

  • Bjorklunden Hosts a Concert of Chamber and Solo Music

    Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a concert on April 29 at 1:30 pm. The Lawrence University Trombone Ensemble, Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, and Low Brass Ensemble will perform a concert of chamber and solo music under the direction of Lawrence professors Marty Erickson (tuba-euphonium) and Nick Keelan (trombone).

  • AFT’s “Guys & Does” Referenced in Psychological Study

    A new study indicates that musical theater may be a promising method for promoting attitudinal change. The study looked at people’s beliefs about deer hunting before and after they saw American Folklore Theatre’s (AFT) musical comedy Guys & Does.

  • Door County Women Perform “The Vagina Monologues”

    The Vagina Monologues is an award-winning play by Eve Ensler based on interviews with more than 200 women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength.

  • 2012 Steel Bridge Songfest Weekend Passes

    Sturgeon Bay’s Steel Bridge Songfest 2012 discounted weekend passes are now on sale. The songfest is set for June 7 – 10 and features over 10 venues around Sturgeon Bay and boasts 150 bands and solo artists performing original music over the span of four days and three nights.
