Karate promotions were held at the Door County YMCA Northern Door Program Center on Dec. 17.

The Results of the Red Putter’s First-ever Frostbite Open
On New Year’s Day at 2 pm, the Red Putter in Ephraim held its first-ever Frostbite Open miniature golf tournament. Sixty-three people braved cold temperatures and brutal wind to play two rounds of miniature golf and compete for trophies, cash prizes, and Red Putter Scarves!

Door County Triathlon Opens Registration
Registration for the 2011 Door County Triathlon opened at 12:01 am on New Year’s Day. The two-day event will once again feature a Sprint Distance Race on Saturday, July 16 and a Half Iron Race on Sunday, July 17.

3-on-3 Soccer Tournament Jan. 22
Sevastopol School’s Multicultural Club will be hosting a 3 on 3 soccer tournament on Saturday, Jan. 22. The doors will open at 8 am; games will begin at 9 am.

Door Shakespeare Presents “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)!”
Door Shakespeare has expanded its season to include both winter and fall performances of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)! Performances will be held at Third Avenue Playhouse on Feb. 11 – 13 and 18 – 20.

DCA Hosts Door County Idol February 5
Eight finalists will compete in the Door County Idol competition this year, which will take place in conjunction with the Fish Creek Winter Festival at 7 pm on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Door Community Auditorium.

Raddadtz and Kuhns Perform with the Next Generation at Jo Joe’s
Mark Raddatz with sons Seth and Austin and Jeanne Kuhns with daughter Mary Beth Mattson will perform original and traditional folk and blues at Jo Joe’s in Ephraim on Friday, Jan. 14 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm as part of their Winter Music Series.

Door County Sail & Power Squadron Offers Boating Classes
The Door County Sail & Power Squadron is continuing to offer advanced boating classes to the public. “Engine Maintenance,” an eight-week course, will begin Monday, Jan. 10 at Northwest Wisconsin Technical College in Sturgeon Bay from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

Door County Maritime Museum Presents Winter Speakers Series
The Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay launched its popular Winter Speakers Series on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 7 pm. A retired Coast Guard captain, Maritime Museum Executive Director Bob Desh presented the first lecture, entitled “Guardians of the Inland Sea: A Brief History of the United States Coast Guard on the Great Lakes.
