Door County is home to a selection of performance venues and ensembles unmatched by any other small communities in America. Birch Creek brings jazz and classical music to a rustic barn, Midsummer’s Music Festival tours the peninsula for intimate concerts, and the Peninsula Music Festival awes visitors and locals alike at the Door Community Auditorium each august.   • Organ-Plus-One

    Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church’s pipe organ presents renowned organist Peter Richard Conte with Andrew Ennis, playing flügelhorn. For their premier appearance in Door County on July 27 at 7 pm, this organ-plus-one duo promises a program of brilliant virtuosic playing, humor, and grace – truly an enjoyable evening of superb artistry and entertainment.

  • A Tradition of Music

    Forty members of the New Herrnhut Moravian Church choir from the island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, will be in residence from July 20 – 23 in Ephraim.

  • The Spirit of Music

    The fourth season of the Anderson Docks-ology, an ecumenical sunset services, began July 9 with Pastor Dawn Volpe of the Ephraim Moravian Church and acclaimed mezzo-soprano Cynthia Stiehl.

  • Traveling Jazz

    The Birch Creek Jazz Ambassadors, a group comprised of advanced students, are scheduled to perform concerts at various Door County locations starting July 17 and going through August 8.

  • Jazz at the Hill

    Big Hill Regency House, an independent senior living community, will host a free, outdoor concert on July 17, from 3 – 4:30 pm. The concert will be held under the parking pavilion at the front entrance of the building.

  • Musical Experience in the Manor

    The Midsummer Music Festival is coming back to the Ellison Bay Manor on July 6 at 3 pm, with Door County’s widely acclaimed classical chamber group performing.

  • Koine in the Park

    St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church has arranged to have the Koine Christian Music Band play at Martin Park on July 10 at 6:30 pm. The concert is open for everyone to listen to their unique take on familiar Christian hymns.

  • The Bones Come to Life at Heritage Village

    The Bone Boys will once again perform in concert at Heritage Village at Big Creek on July 6 at 2 pm. The Bone Boys, also known as the Door County Trombone Ensemble, began performing in 1988.

  • Ole Blue Takes a “Joyride”

    Birch Creek concertgoers are sure to be pleased at the concert on June 27 at 8 pm, Comedy and Pops, featuring a song titled “Joyride” that was composed by Birch Creek’s Percussion Program Director Ben Wahlund.

  • Performing in Improvised Spaces: The Midsummer’s Music Festival

    Originally chamber music, relatively small ensembles as opposed to full symphonic orchestras, was performed in homes rather than concert halls, hence the term chamber music.

  • “Bursting With Passion”

    Midsummer’s Music began its 24th season on June 13 at Birch Creek Music Performance Center with an opening gala. A long-awaited CD of live performances was unveiled that evening which features works by Mozart, Saint-Saens, and Rheinberger recorded live in concert at various Door County venues.

  • Voelker and the Gents

    The first of a series of concerts will be held at the Algoma United Methodist Church on June 29 at 6:30 pm. Jerry Voelker and the Jolly Gents will provide Czech, German polkas and waltzes, and modern jitterbug.

  • Play It Again

    Birch Creek’s 2014 Concert Season opened to a full house on June 19. An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the rhythms and sounds of Percussion and Steel Band performers, which followed a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of the Play It Again Stand’s grand opening.

  • A Call to Concert Sponsorship

    A limited number of concert sponsorships remain available for Birch Creek’s 2014 season. Sponsoring a concert demonstrates an appreciation for the growth and development of the aspiring musicians at Birch Creek, and sponsors are rewarded for their generosity.

  • Moravian Church Choir Concert

    The united choirs of Ephraim Moravian, Sister Bay Moravian and Sturgeon Bay Moravian Churches will present a Moravian Music Concert at the Ephraim Moravian Church (9970 Moravia Street, Ephraim) on June 27 at 7 pm.

  • A Little “Night” Music

    Birch Creek and the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society (DPAS) are once again partnering for the Night Sky Viewing event, which follows the Hot Nights/Cool Jazz Percussion and Steel Band concert on June 25 (rain date is June 26).

  • A Year at Door Community Auditorium

    Many tourists and seasonal residents visit Door Community Auditorium (DCA) and participate in our programming exclusively during the county’s busiest months.

  • Birch Creek Concert Season Begins June 19

    Birch Creek launches the 2014 concert season on June 19 with A Drumming Mosaic, showcasing the Birch Creek Percussion and Steelpan Faculty. The concert begins at 8 pm, with student ensemble prelude music at 7:30 in the gazebo.

  • We Have Fun, Too

    A classical music concert is generally perceived to be a rather serious affair. Dress clothes must be worn, clapping must only occur at proper intervals, and high standards are constantly expected of musicians.

  • Gala Opening Night for Midsummer’s Music

    Midsummer’s Music Festival kicks off with a gala opening night concert event on June 13 at the Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor. A 7 pm prelude concert will be performed again this year by students of the Door County String Academy.
