Run for A Cause in the Door County Half Marathon
When the Door County Half Marathon was launched in 2008 its founders hoped to create an event that was much more than a race. Heading into the fifth annual race in 2012, the Run for A Cause Program is helping extend the event’s reach to the peninsula’s non-profit community.

Door County Triathlon Donates $60,000 to Charity
The Door County Triathlon made $60,000 in donations to county non-profits. The triathlon’s board voted to donate $30,000 each to Door County YMCA and to the Friends of Door County Parks.

Bike Rodeo Brought to St. Peters
On September 23, the students at St. Peters Lutheran School learned about bicycle safety. Community Service Officer Brenden Pizzala of the Sturgeon Bay Police Department, in conjunction with the Wisconsin DOT Bureau of Transportation Safety, taught the students about proper helmet fit, bike skills and safety.

Door County YMCA Hosts Pickleball Tournament
The 1st Annual Door County YMCA Open Pickleball tournament was held September 10 and 11 at the Northern Door Program Center with 12 teams made up of participants from all over the state.

Run Wild at Potawatomi State Park in Sturgeon Bay
The 23rd annual Run Wild three-mile and 10K events will be held October 1 at 10 am at beautiful Potawatomi State Park in Sturgeon Bay. The Smokey Bear Run for youth ages two to 10 years old will take place at 11:15 am.

The Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail will host the second annual Ahnapee Trail Century Ride, a noncompetitive bicycle tour for all ages. The event on September 24 will offer 8-, 13-, 32-, 64-, and 100-mile routes through cedar wetlands, farm fields, orchards and woodlands surrounding Luxemburg, Casco, Algoma, Kewaunee, and Sturgeon Bay.
