Door County is renowned nationwide for it’s array of local, independent theater in settings unlike any other. There’s the historic Peninsula Players on the water, Northern Sky Theatre in the woods of Peninsula State Park, and Door Shakespeare in the gardens of Bjorklunden.   • Fall in Love at TAP

    Stage Door Theatre Company presents Talley’s Folley, a romantic comedy by Lanford Wilson, through July 25 at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay. The play features Drew Brhel and Amy Ensign.

  • A Mystery Debut

    Peninsula Players Theatre continues its 79th with Agatha Christie’s classic whodunit And Then There Were None. While the Players have produced other Christie works And Then There Were None, adapted from her novel, makes its Players debut with this production.

  • “Draw Thy Sword”: Choreographing Combat at Door Shakespeare

    Dan Klarer woke up with fighting on his mind. He envisioned various scenarios, swipes, swings, and spins between two characters of William Shakespeare’s tragedy King Lear.

  • Acting Out

    Rogue Theater announces an adult acting class, presented by Spencer Milligan, will be held Tuesday 7 – 10 pm, from July 22 – Aug. 12. This “Actors Lab” will focus on dramatic performances, and all scenes will be selected from theatre, film, and television and the actors will receive a DVD of their final performance.

The Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA) was established to provide a forum for the artistic, managerial, educational leadership for theaters primarily involved with the production of the works of William Shakespeare; to discuss issues and methods of work, resources, and information; and to act as an advocate for Shakespearean productions and training.

When Carol Lyons and her husband, Tom, moved to a small log cabin in Southern Door in the fall of 1994, she spent the winter writing what was intended to be a murder mystery radio play.

    Door Shakespeare recently received partial funding from the Raibrook Foundation for the purchase of new, weather-grade risers with guardrails for the audience seating area.
