Ephraim Family Sing-Alongs Begin for 2009 Season

Ephraim’s famous Sunday Sing-Alongs are back. Sponsored each summer by the Ephraim Historical Foundation, the Sunday Sing-Alongs are a great activity for the entire family. The historic hall comes to life Sunday evenings at 7:30 pm through August 2 with the sound of old-time songs, sung with gusto by over 250 voices.

Over the years, the Ephraim Sing-Alongs have become a favorite staple of Ephraim summer activities. The Sing-Alongs had their origins in the 1930s and continued until interest waned in the 1950s. The Sing-Alongs were revived by George and Armella Norton in 1995, with sponsorship by the Ephraim Historical Foundation and great cooperation from the Village of Ephraim. Soon the Village Hall became the place to be on Sunday evenings, often with standing room only crowds.

The 2009 Sing-Along schedule is as follows:

• June 28:  Marvin Doerksen, Song Leader; Doris Doerksen, Pianist

• July 5:  Sigrid Ostrem, Song Leader; Gladys Austgen, Pianist

• July 12:  Don Makuen, Song Leader; Gary Doudna, Pianist

• July 19:  Marvin Doerksen, Song Leader; Doris Doerksen, Pianist

• July 26:  Sigrid Ostrem, Song Leader; Doris Doersken, Pianist

• August 2:  Don MaKuen, Song Leader; Gladys Austgen, Pianist

Make plans to arrive early to get a seat at the Sing-Alongs. The Village Hall fills up quickly on most Sunday evenings. For more information about the Sunday Sing-Alongs please visit http://www.ephraim.org or call the Foundation office at 920.854.9688.
