Ephraim Hosts Public Workshop on Highway Project Oct. 18

Ephraim’s engineering consultant, AECOM, along with village staff, will conduct a second public workshop on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 7 pm. It is important for residents and businesses along the reconstruction area (from the southern end of Ephraim Beach to just north of the Firehouse Museum) to attend this meeting. Design is on schedule, and the schedule for estimated construction includes awarding of contract to repair of sewer manholes on Highway 42 at October meeting; streetscape reconstruction with Moravia intersection and street lights to begin approximately March 1 and to be completed by June 28, 2019; burial of electric and communication lines contract with WPS to be signed at October village board meeting, with construction to be completed by March 1, 2019; drainage on village streets. As part of the reconstruction and the new drainage system, stubs will be provided to allow residents to connect their sump pumps from their basement and crawl space. However, a village permit will be required to make a connection. The village is investigating ways to minimize nutrient runoff into the bay, as well as developing suggested guidelines for residents on ways to reduce nutrient runoff.
