Ephraim Lecture Series Highlights Eagle Tower History July 11-25

Each new year offers a variety of exciting topics at the Ephraim Historical Foundation’s annual lecture series, History Speaks. The 2017 programs include a significant historical anniversary, an update on a beloved Door County landmark and more.

The 2017 History Speaks series begins July 4 with a viewing of Wisconsin Public Television’s Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Door County. The film features photographs from the Ephraim Historical Foundation collection, as well as interviews with several Ephraim residents.

On July 11, Chuck Pearson will discuss two historically significant anniversaries: the 135th anniversary of Ephraim’s Bethany Lutheran Church and the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

Rachel Stollenwerk, Eagle Tower Fund Committee campaign director, and Kathleen Harris, Peninsula State Park naturalist, will provide an update on the Eagle Tower project and discuss the history of the tower at the July 18 program.

The 2017 History Speaks series ends July 25 with a talk on Peninsula Players Theatre, given by Audra Baakari Boyle, Pen Players business manager.

History Speaks is a free program, held at 7:30 pm in the Ephraim Village Hall each Tuesday in July. For more information, contact Emily Irwin at [email protected] or 920.854.9688.
