Ephraim Yacht Club Offers Adult Sailing Lessons

The Ephraim Yacht Club (EYC) offers beginner sailing lessons for adults in several formats. One class meets once a week for three hours on Thursday evenings. Students can sign up for four weeks (beginning June 27 or July 25) or eight weeks (beginning June 27). Tuition is $132 for four weeks or $264 for eight weeks.

Or, adults who want their lesson concentrated in a short period can take a week-long class that meets Monday through Friday afternoons for three hours. Week-long classes are offered every week beginning June 24 through August 16. Tuition is $165 per week.

“As one of the largest sailing schools in the Midwest, we teach over 250 juniors how to sail every summer at the EYC,” said EYC Commodore Jay Lott. “But the EYC also offers multiple ways for adults who are interested in sailing to ‘get their feet wet’ in an adults-only environment which is fun and social.”

Adult students are required to be at least 18-years-old, know how to swim, and have their own properly fitting life jacket. All other equipment is supplied by the EYC.

The Ephraim Yacht Club, located on Water Street in Ephraim, is Door County’s only community sailing center. EYC membership is required in order to take lessons. Membership is open to all; annual membership dues begin at $65 for students under age 25. The EYC maintains a fleet of 50 sailboats and kayaks for use by members in lessons, racing, and sailing.
