Erosion Control Project Proceeding at La Salle Park

With a 14-7 vote on Tuesday, the Door County Board of Supervisors agreed to kick in half the costs of installing 150 feet of rip rap at Robert La Salle County Park to protect the shoreline and decrease erosion.

The Door County Facilities and Parks Committee awarded the bid Oct. 14 to Hutchinson Property Services of Sturgeon Bay at a cost of no more than $52,500. The Friends of Door County Parks had donated half that amount to fund 75 feet of the work. The Facilities and Parks Committee agreed to ask the county for the remaining $26,250 – to come out of the county’s contingency account – to complete the full 150 feet.

The county’s Finance Committee then recommended the unbudgeted transfer, preparing it for county board approval.
