Escape Artist at Door County Historical Museum

Wisconsin-based escape artist Anthony Martin will be at the Door County Historical Museum on Saturday, September 5 at 2 pm to test the security of the museum’s historic jail cell.

The jail cell was preserved by the Historical Museum after it was removed from the Door County Jail. The cell has experienced no known escapes in its history. The attempt is being made to encourage the public’s support of the Door County Historical Museum and the counties local crime prevention program.

With citizen support we can all escape the clutches of crime and build stronger and safer communities. A press conference will be held immediately following the attempt.

Martin’s successful jailbreaks include successful challenges of all-steel cellblocks that once held such notorious criminals as Baby Face Nelson and Edward Gein of Psycho fame. His most recent “break” was an escape from the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana in June 2008, which he completed in eight minutes.

The Door County Historical Museum is located at 18 N. 4th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920.743.5809.
