“An Evening with Jens Jensen” at Woodwalk Aug 17

Roger Kuhns will give a monologue titled “An Evening with Jens Jensen,” at Woodwalk Gallery on Aug. 17 at 7 pm.

What if you could spend an hour chatting with one of your heroes? Kuhns contemplated such a moment in regard to Jensen, father of landscape architecture, founder of The Clearing, and visionary for the Chicago Parks and Forest Preserve system. Jensen was a recognized national master of all of these crafts and skills. Join Kuhns as he delves into the words and experiences of Jensen to bring them alive and communicate how this insightful Danish immigrant became an American icon, and a leader of native landscape design and the Prairie Movement.

Kuhns is a writer, geologist and sustainologist. He is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker on the Niagara Escarpment (musictoearspress.com), Kuhns will lead a short hike beginning at 4 pm through the Lautenbach Woods Nature Preserve across from Woodwalk Gallery. The event is sponsored by the Door County Land Trust.

Guests are invited to bring a picnic to Woodwalk to enjoy before the show. Woodwalk Gallery is located at 6746 County G, south of Egg Harbor. The cost is $20 at the door or $25 if signing up for the monologue and hike through the Door County Land Trust (doorcountylandtrust.org). For reservations call the Land Trust at 920.746.1359.
