Event Schedule for Door County Reads

Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451 is the chosen book for “Door County Reads 2011.” Courtesy of the Friends of Door County Libraries, free copies of the book are currently available at all Door County libraries.

Throughout the peninsula there will be presentations, theatrical performances, book discussions, film showings, and other programs and events through February 18.

Upcoming Events:

• Jan. 24: A kickoff celebration will be held at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek at 7 pm. The event will feature relevant displays and artwork, along with a presentation, theatrical interpretations, and live music.

• Jan. 26: The Waterbury Inn in Ephraim will host a book discussion at 1 pm. The Sturgeon Bay library will screen a documentary film about Ray Bradbury at 6:30 pm.

• Jan. 27: The Red Cup Coffeehouse in Washington Island will host a book discussion at 11 am.

• Jan. 28: U.W. Professor Christine Pawley will discuss her book Reading Places: Literacy, Democracy, and the Public Library in Cold War America at the Crossroads in Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay from 7 – 8 pm.

• Jan. 29: The Third Avenue Playhouse of Sturgeon Bay will screen the 1966 film version of Fahrenheit 451 at 2 pm and 7 pm.

• Jan. 31: The Fish Creek Library will host a book discussion at 4 pm. The Peninsula Players will present a radio-play style reading of two of Ray Bradbury plays at 7 pm at Bjorklunden near Baileys Harbor.

• Feb. 2: Novel Ideas Bookstore of Baileys Harbor will host a book discussion at 1 pm.

• Feb. 3: Sam Weller, the author of The Bradbury Chronicles: The Life of Ray Bradbury, will speak at Bjorklunden near Baileys Harbor at 7 pm.
