Everyone Invited to Pen Park Nature Programs

To close the year, Peninsula State Park will host a variety of programs at their Nature Center.

On Dec. 27 from 1 – 1:30 pm, children are invited to make a candy cane mouse while learning how mice are related to porcupines.

On Dec. 28, 1 – 1:45, participants should dress for an outdoor hike and will look for animal signs and tracks.

On Dec. 29, people are invited to stop by Park headquarters between 11 am and 1 pm for cocoa and conversation. See furs, historic photos along with bird images and learn to identify all. The park’s hunting history and information is featured.

A Birdfeeding Bonanza Workshop will be held Dec. 30 from 1 – 2 pm. Feed feathered friends by creating your own feeder.

A New Year’s Eve Campfire Workshop will be held Dec. 31 from 12 – 2 pm. Participants will gather around a fire to sample a traditional recipe of Hoppin’ John. In case of a snowstorm, the program will be cancelled.

On Dec. 27, 28, 30, & 31 the Nature Center is open 12 – 3 pm; the center is closed Dec. 29. Programs are open to the public, but a state park vehicle sticker is required. For more information call 920.854.5976.
